He heals through the Holy Spirit working through individuals. Hold on, for we never know when God will send His holy power our way. This passage shows us that it does not matter what our circumstances are, that we ought not give up. And if the man was lame from birth, as the Bible says, that lets us know that he had never experienced the joy of walking. First, we see the holy power of God working through Peter and John. Let us briefly examine three points - holy power, healing power, holding power. In those days, helping beggars was considered praiseworthy, so the beggar had wisely placed himself where devout people, godly people, holy people could see him as they entered the temple. On this particular day, the people were going to the temple to pray, as did all devout Jews and many Gentiles of those times, and Peter and John were among those going to afternoon prayers when they came upon the lame beggar. We must be reminded, however, that when used in the proper fashion, power is a beautiful commodity. There are those who seek physical power, psychological power and authority over others. Power also is the ability or strength to perform an activity or deed. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ - Acts 3:6 According to the American Heritage dictionary, ‘power’ is the ability or capacity to act or perform effectively.
